PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball team has a 5 game winning streak after a 4-0 weekend and championship of the Koester Invitational Tournament. Post 8 won twice yesterday in the tournament’s final day downing Clark-Willow Lake 9-7 and then disposing of Huron 10-0 in the championship game. In the win over Clark-Willow Lake, Pierre scored 4 runs in the 4th inning to break a 5-5 tie and then hold on for the win. Shay Reinke and Alec Norwick each had a pair of hits and Reinke added two RBI’s to lead Pierre offensivly. Pierre had an 11 hit attack. Quinn Reimers struck out 8 to pick the win. In the championship game, it was all Post 8 as starting pitcher Isaac Grode and reliever Cooper Walton combined on a 2 hitter. Grode went 5 innings allowing 1 hit and struck out 2. Neither pitcher walked a Huron batter. Ben Leidholt had a pair of hits and 2 RBI’s and scored twice for Pierre which improved it’s record to 7 and 11 on the season.
