Guthrie Prevails Over Bartlett Via Playoff

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Karissa Guthrie of Pierre won her 5th SDGA Junior Tour tournament golf stop Thursday at the Prarie Winds Golf Course at Watertown.  Guthrie though had to win in a playoff over Pierre Lady Governor teammate Katie Bartlett.  Both golfers ended regulation firing 76′s.  But Guthrie was the winner in the playoff and Bartlett had to settle for second.  Both girls were 5 shots better than the third place finisher in the girls 16-18 division.  There were also several other golfers from Pierre who competed in the tournament.  In the girls 14-15 age division tournament, Shelby Guthrie fired a 102 to finish in third place while Maddie Johnson had a 120.  In the boys division of the 14-15 tournament, Andrew Van Gerpen won his first Junior Tour tournament of the season firing a 76 and claiming a two stroke victory.  Colman Varty fired a 97 but did not place.  And Hallie Gronlund had a 123 to finish third in the girls 12-13 age division tournament.
