PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A special ceremony will be held later this month to dedicate a bench in honor of Shirley Raue-a former Pierre resident and longtime childcare provider who passed away in December after a battle with cancer. Jerid Maskovich raised funds to have a bench constructed in Shirley’s honor. While running her daycare, she took her children to LaBarge Park frequently-so that’s where the bench is located. On June 29th, the bench will be unveiled. Along with the dedication, there will be carnival games, prizes, fire truck rides and snacks for kids. The event is planned for 1-4 p.m. on the 29th at LaBarge Park. This morning, Jerid spoke with KGFX’s Scott Lane about the bench ceremony and carnival. Listen to the interview on the link below:
