Man Killed in Mellette County Crash Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Kansas man died in a one vehicle crash yesterday north of White River.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the man, 57-year-old Ronald Edwin Franchett, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger yesterday evening about eight miles north of White River when the vehicle left the road, hit a field approach and rolled.  The pickup came to rest in a road ditch.  The patrol says Franchett was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the crash scene.  No other information is available and the South Dakota Highway Patrol continues its investigation.
