SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A thunderstorm forced Senate candidate Mike Rounds to change his campaign plans on Tuesday, and more bad weather is in the forecast.
Rounds started the day in Sioux Falls and was flying to Rapid City when a storm packing large hail prompted him to land in Pierre. His spokesman says he hopes to end the day back in Sioux Falls.
The National Weather Service says rain and thunderstorms are expected across much of the state through Tuesday evening.
A flash flood watch is in effect for far southeast South Dakota from late afternoon until early Wednesday.
Secretary of State Jason Gant says the weather is his biggest concern and hopes it doesn’t hurt turnout because the biggest voting spike happens at 5 p.m. But he wants people to be safe.
