PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amateur baseball team went 2 and 1 over the weekend at the Sioux Falls Saints tournament played in Sioux Falls. The Rattlers defeated Dell Rapids Mudcats 3-0 in their first game as Harry Decker pitched a complete game 4 hit shutout striking out 8 and walking only 1. Decker also doubled for the Rattlers at the plate. The Sioux Falls Squirrels defeated the Rattlers 8-2 in their second game on Saturday. Alex McGuigan was the losing pitcher in releif of starter Ryan Yackley. McGuigan allowed all 8 runs on 10 in 3 innings of work. Yesterday in the place game, the Rattlers downed Hadley, Minnesota 3-2 in a game called after 5 innings due to rain. Jusitin Siemonsma was the winning pitcher allowing 8 hits Harry Decker again led the Rattlers at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Sam Koenecke also had a RBI single for the Rattlers who improved to 3 and 1 on the season. They travel to Wessington Springs for a contest Tuesday night. The Rattlers home opener will be Sunday when they entertain Redfield in a 3 pm single game at Hyde Stadium.
