PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has declared June “Great Outdoors Month” along with other states across the country.
Daugaard says South Dakota offers many opportunities for outdoor fun.
State parks throughout June will offer bird walks, outdoor cooking demonstrations, fishing derbies and other activities.
The first week in June is National Fishing and Boating Week. Special events include National Trails Day on June 7, National Get Outdoors Day on June 14 and the Great American Backyard Campout on June 28.
Lake Herman State Park near Madison will host a pioneer day June 14 with family activities and historical demonstrations.
