PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Fastpitch 16U team improved its non-league record to 3-1 with a pair of wins in Wessington Springs over the weekend. Pierre started the day with a 10-2 win over Mitchell Venom and then downed the host team 13-10 in the second game. Sierra Nelson went 2-3 at the plate, driving in two runs in the win over Mitchell and Abby Keith fired three shutout innings, allowing just two hits, striking out four and walking two batters to earn the win. Nelson tossed the final two innings of the contest, also giving up just two hits. In the win over Wessington Springs, Chloe Kaiser went 3-3 at the plate and drove in three runs.Cassie VanDeWiele and JordynLemieux each had a pair of hits. Sammie Bahe faced twelve batters, striking out five, allowed two hits and did not issue a free pass. Anna Maher came on to pitch the final two innings, finishing strong after an early struggle with control. Next action for Pierre Fastpitch 16U is a one-day tournament at Watertown on Sunday, June 1.
