South Dakota Highway Patrol Patch

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A motorist was arrested Thursday morning following a two vehicle crash north of Miller. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says troopers responded yesterday morning to the crash on South Dakota Highway 45-about 12 miles north of Miller. The patrol says a semi-truck was southbound on the highway when it was sideswiped by a northbound Volkswagen Jetta after the Jetta drifted across the center line. The patrol says in a social media statement that the driver of the car was not wearing his seatbelt and received serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Authorities say evidence discovered through an investigation into the crash indicates that the driver of the Jetta had been smoking marijuana before striking the semi. The driver was arrested for a drug-related DUI and multiple other offenses.
