PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The museum at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre is going to be open for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday. The museum hours May 26 will be from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., but all other State Historical Society offices, including the archives research room, will be closed Monday. Starting Tuesday and continuing through Labor Day in September, the museum will be open extended hours-from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays and holidays from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. The museum is featuring two new exhibits this summer; one in the Hogen Gallery which displays the artwork of Lakota artist Arthur Amiotte and another located in the Observation Gallery called “South Dakota Environments: A Window to Past Times”. Museum admission is free for children 17 and younger and there is a small fee for adults ages 18 and older.
