6 Jackrabbits Honored by Summit League Baseball



SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– Six South Dakota State players, including four first-team all-league selections, were honored during the Summit League Baseball Champions?hip pre-tournament banquet Wednesday night.  Junior pitchers Adam Bray and J.D. Moore were selected by the league’s coaches to the all-Summit League First Team.  Senior position players Aaron Machbitz and Scott Splett also were honored on the first team.  Representing the Jackrabbits on the second team was junior pitcher Chad Hodges.  Rounding out the Jackrabbit award winners was third baseman/designated hitter Matt Johnson, who was named Summit League Newcomer of the Year.  The Summit League Baseball Championship begins Thursday at Sioux Falls Stadium. Third-seeded Fort Wayne meets second-seeded Western Illinois at 2 p.m., followed by top-seeded South Dakota State against No. 4 seed North Dakota State at 7 p.m. The double-elimination tournament runs through Saturday.
