BRANDON, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governors finished 3rd and the Governors were fourth in the team standings of the ESD Conference Track and Field meet held Saturday in Brandon. Brandon Valley won both the boys and girls divisions while Yankton was second in both divisions. Courtney Dowling again starred for the Lady Govs. The Lady Gov sophomore speedster won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and victory in the 400 meter dash got her 3 gold medals on the day. Sydney Palmer also was a ESD champion taking both the Discus and Shot Put crowns. On the boys side, senior Shay Reinke was a ESD champion winning the 110 meter hurdles and Matt Booth had a near miss as he finished runnerup in the 300 meter hudles. Riley Sears was second in the high jump. In the relays, the Governors 1600 sprint medley relay won a ESD title. Austin Christopherson, Ethan Case, Kahler Fiala and Ben Eisenbeisz teamed for the win. Nest up for the Govs and Lady Govs is the Wendelglass Invitational meet hosted by Huron on Thursday.
