SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University announced late Monday that Amy Gurney resigned as the head softball coach and senior women’s administrator effective May 21. Gurney has led the Yellow Jacket softball team since 2007, taking it to a third-place finish in the NAIA Dakota Athletic Conference before helping it transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. She earned DAC Coach of the Year honors in 2008. The team’s overall record under Gurney for the past five seasons is 41-154. A national search for a new head softball coach will begin immediately.
