PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Arts Council is accepting proposals for artwork that could be displayed on state government buildings with significant public access.
An advisory committee to the council will choose a series of pieces from the proposals. The state will purchase the selected artwork under the South Dakota Art for State Buildings Program.
Submissions are due June 18. The artwork purchased this year is expected to be installed in public areas of the Capitol and other state buildings in the Capitol Complex.
The council says the selection will be based on the quality of the work, its relevance to the state’s heritage, the artist’s experience and the safety required for public artworks.
