PIERRE, S.D. – Stanley County fired a 144 team score to finish second and qualify for the State Class B boys golf tournament next week. The tournament held at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre was shortened to 9 holes due to weather and course conditions. Sully Buttes won the boys team title with a 140 and Jordan Maier of Sully Buttes was individual medalist with a 40, 1 shot better than runner and teammate Brayden Wittler. Stanley County was led by Tyler Smith who fired a 44 and finished 4th. Blake Onken had a 46 good for 6th place. Other Buffalo golfers included Nate Cronin with a 53 and Seth VanDenHemmel with a 55. Sully Buttes and Stanley County both will golf at the State Class B tournament next week in Mitchell. In the girls division, Sully Buttes won the team title of that tournament with a 153, 13 shots better than runner up Lyman. Micaela Johnson of Eureka-Bowdle won the individual title with a 45. Nicole Mosiman of Sully Buttes, Courtney Anderson of Lyman and Sully Buttes Kendyll Jones tied for second with a round of 49. Mosiman won scorecard playoff and finsihed 2nd, Anderson was 3rd and Jones finished 4th. Stanley County’s only golfer, Martee Larson fired a 61 to finish 11th. The Girls State B golf tournament will be next Monday and Tuesday in Mitchell with Sully Buttes and Lyman qualified in the team competition.
