Four Killed in Crash of Small Plane South of Highmore

UNDATED – (DRG News) The crash of a small plane south of Highmore is said to have caused the deaths of four people. The Federal Aviation Administration says the crash involved a Piper 32 aircraft. Elizabeth Cory, a spokesperson for the FAA in Chicago says the crash was reported about 3:44 a.m. this morning and the plane had been traveling from Texas to Gettysburg, South Dakota. She says all information at this time is preliminary.

The plane crash happened about five miles south of Highmore. Cory says the next of kin for the four plane occupants are being notified and the identity of the crash victims will be released later.
The National Weather Service in Aberdeen says the Highmore area experienced low clouds and fog last night.
The Highmore Fire Department and Hyde County Sheriff were among agencies called to the scene. The FAA has been contacted to look into the accident and the National Transportation Safety Board is leading that investigation.
