GETTYSBURG, S.D. – (DRG News) Two Rapid City men were arrested this morning after a law enforcement pursuit west of Gettysburg. Gettysburg Police Chief Bill Wainman says the incident started this morning about 10:00 a.m. when the Gettysburg Police Department stopped a vehicle in town, for a traffic infraction. The driver of the vehicle initially pulled over for the officer, but then drove away again, resulting in the law enforcement chase. The pursuit by the police department and Potter County Sheriff’s Office exceeded speed limits and traveled along Highway 83 about ten miles. It ended when the driver of the vehicle turned off onto 167th Street and the vehicle became stuck in a field at 167th and 299th Avenue. The two occupants of the Jeep Grand Cherokee were arrested without incident. Assisting at the scene of the arrest were officers with the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Sully County Sheriff’s Office. Wainman says one of the subjects was transferred to the hospital for evaluation. The case is being turned over to the DCI for further investigation and Wainman says he expects the two to make their first court appearance on April 21.
