Stanley County Schools will start at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday to give city and county workers a chance to clear roads for safe travel.  The district will NOT serve breakfast tomorrow morning and there will be no before school activities.  Buildings will open at 9:45 a.m. for students.

Faulkton Area schools will open at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Chamberlain Schools will open two hours late Tuesday.  No morning PAWS program and no breakfast.

The Right Turn in Pierre will open tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

Dupree will start school two hours late.

Lyman Schools will start one hour late.

Oahe Child Development Head Start will have no AM classes tomorrow, but will have PM classes.

Jefferson School has postponed the program it planned for Tuesday at Riggs High School.  It will be rescheduled at a later date.

Gettysburg Schools will start at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Cheyenne Eagle Butte starting at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. No country busses.

Highmore/Harrold will start two hours late tomorrow.

Bowdle will start two hours late Tuesday.

Timber Lake-two hours late Tuesday.

Tiospaye Topa-two hours late tomorrow.

Eureka-10:30 a.m. start tomorrow.

Hoven Schools will open at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Kimball School will open two hours late Tuesday.




Selby Area


Faith Lutheran Preschool is cancelled tomorrow.

AAUW Preschool is cancelled for tomorrow.



No classes at Capital University Center tonight.

Avera Medical Group Urgent Care will be closed tonight.

The City of Pierre will issue an Emergency Snow Declaration tonight.  All  vehicles should be off the Snow Routes prior to Midnight.  Vehicles on the Snow Routes will be ticketed and towed.   The crews will commence plowing as soon as the wind speeds drop to the point of being safe on the roads and accomplishing meaningful snow removal operations.   At present the city anticipates the plows to be out around 4 AM.   Please remove as many cars from all streets as possible to allow for the best snow removal  operations that can be accomplished with these conditions.

Mayor Laurie R. Gill of Pierre has issued a “No Travel Advisory” within the City limits of Pierre.  The No Travel Advisory will be in effect until 1 AM tomorrow morning.

Classes cancelled at Hosanna Dance in Pierre tonight.

Capital Area Counseling closed early today due to the blizzard. Emergency services will be available, if needed.

The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office is cancelling 24/7 testing for tonight and tomorrow morning because of the weather.  Hughes County Sheriff Mike Leidholt says people in the program will get an excused absence for testing for tonight and tomorrow morning.

The Food Pantry in Pierre closed today.  People should call before coming in tomorrow.

No 7:00 p.m. Monday night commercial league bowling at Lariat Lanes.  Also, the Dakota Bowling League is cancelled.

The Pierre Area Waterpark Committee has cancelled the meeting it had planned for this evening. Instead, plans call for the group to meet on Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the View 34 Banquet Room in Pierre.

The YMCA and Pierre Aquatic Center are closed.  All YMCA programs and classes are cancelled for the evening.  The Y will open at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

River Cities Transit has shut down for the day because of the weather. Dispatchers will be available for calls tonight and early tomorrow morning.  Plans call for transit to start service again Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. in the city limits of Pierre/Fort Pierre only until further assessment of other routes can be made.

YMCA Volleyball is cancelled for tonight.

The “It Just Takes One” campaign kickoff that was to be held at McDonald’s in Pierre today has been cancelled.  A new date has yet to be set for the kickoff event.

No Knights of Columbus Bingo at the KC Hall tonight in Pierre
