SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Five Republicans, one Democrat and one independent have been approved to appear on the ballot for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Tim Johnson.
Secretary of State Jason Gant approved the petitions for Sioux Falls physician Annette Bosworth today, a day after her campaign submitted 2,750 signatures supporting the Republican. The crowded party field includes former Gov. Mike Rounds, Yankton attorney and Army Reserves Maj. Jason Ravnsborg and state lawmakers Larry Rhoden, of Union Center, and Stace Nelson, of Fulton.
Restaurant owner Rick Weiland is the lone Democratic candidate, and former Republican U.S. Sen. Larry Pressler is running as an independent.
