WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Lady Capitals hockey team lost their first game at the State Girls Varsity Hockey Tournament in Watertown Friday dropping a 4-2 verdict to Aberdeen. Aberdeen jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first period and led 3-1 going into the final stanza to advance to the semi finals of the tournament later today. Pierre-Ft. Pierre got goals from Destiny Barry at 15:10 of the first period and Traci Corcoran added a goal at 4:27 of the third period which at the time drew Pierre-Ft. Pierre to within 3-2. But Aberdeen scored at the 5 minute mark of the third period an insurance goal that proved to be the difference. Pierre-Ft. Pierre outshot Aberdeen 23-20in the game. Pierre-Ft. Pierre will play Rushmore in a semi final consolation game at 2:30 Saturday. Aberdeen will play Watertown in a championship semi final game at 5 pm. Sioux Falls and Brookings meet in the other semi final game at 7:30 pm.
