PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The members of the South Dakota Pheasant Habitat Work Group gathered for their initial meeting last week in Pierre. The 13-member group is made up of members selected by Governor Dennis Daugaard after last December’s Pheasant Habitat Summit. The task force is made up of sportsmen, landowners, lawmakers, government officials and others. Work Group Chairwoman Pam Roberts says she is very happy with the progress made by the committee during the first meeting. Members of the group reviewed hundreds of comments, ideas and suggestions that citizens have offered to improve pheasant habitat and pheasant populations in the state. The group will meet again early next month and will deliver a report of its work to Governor Daugaard this summer.
