FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Saturday, February 15, 2014 brought another change to Fort Pierre, as the former Stanley County K-2 elementary building was torn down. A new elementary school was opened nearby in January. Sharpe Construction crews began working late Saturday morning to tear down the shell of the old structure and had the school completely demolished by that evening. Shown here-crews are working on the south side of the building-as they begin the process to take down the school. After the rubble is removed, the site will eventually be the location for a playground area for the students.
