PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governors trailed 28-14 at halftime and their comeback bid in the second half fell short as they were downed by Sturgis 47-41 in girls basketball play Tuesday night in Pierre. The Lady Governors cut the lead to 5 at 39-33 after 3 quarters but did not have enough in the 4th quarter to complete the comeback. Sydney Palmer led the Lady Govs in scoring once again with 17 points and Kaitlin Severyn added 10. Both girls had 5 rebounds and Severyn added 3 assists. Kahlie Peterson led Sturgis with 17 points while Lyndsey Prosser had 15 and both girls hauled down a team and game high 7 rebounds. The loss leaves the Lady Govs with a 8 and 7 record as they host Sioux Falls O’Gorman tomorrow night at Riggs High Gym. Sturgis improved to 11-4 on the season.
