PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Saturday brought the annual Hollywood Tonight fundraiser for Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center. The theme of the event was “Pierre’s Got Talent”. Ten different acts, chosen during auditions last year, competed to be named “Entertainer of the Year”, “Best Group” or Rising Star”. 10-year-old Montaina Washington performed the song “Warrior” by Demi Lovato and was named both “Entertainer of the Year” and “Rising Star”, while the group “Hometown Nobodies” made up of Derek Leiferman, Cole Cruse, Ryan Shelton, Cody Kuehl and Seth McKinley took the “Best Group” award for their rendition of “Use Somebody”, by Kings of Leon.
This was the 22nd annual Hollywood Tonight and Missouri Shores’ Executive Director Kami Marts says the money raised through the event is spent to help those seeking help through the Domestic Violence Center-and more.
Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center works to assist domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Marts says they help about 1,000 people each year.
Marts says she is so impressed with the strength displayed by Missouri Shores clients.
Next year’s Hollywood Tonight will be February 14. Missouri Shores will have another fundraiser this summer with its “Burnouts, Not Bruises” event in June at Oahe Speedway.
