IPSWICH, S.D. – (SD Dept Public Safety) A Minnesota teen died in a one-vehicle crash on 125th Street about one-half mile west of S.D. Highway 45 northeast of Ipswich on Monday, Feb. 10.
Vannah Decker, 15, of Gibbon, Minn., was the passenger in a 2000 GMC Jimmy driven by Janos Stahl, 17, of Ipswich. The vehicle was eastbound on 125th Street when the driver lost control and the vehicle entered the north ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in a field. Decker, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was dead at the scene when responders arrived.
Stahl, who was not wearing a seatbelt, received serious, non-life threatening injuries.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Edmunds County Sheriff’s Office, Ipswich Ambulance and Ipswich Fire Department assisted.
