DENVER, Co. – South Dakota State senior Jordan Dykstra hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers and went 8 for 8 from the free throw line down the stretch to lead the Jackrabbits to a 74-73, come-from-behind win over Denver on Thursday at Magness Arena in Denver. Jordan Dykstra, who went scoreless in the first half, scored 14 of his team-high 18 points over the last 2 minutes, 51 seconds of the game. Cody Larson added 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Jacks, who out-rebounded the Pioneers 30-18, including a 12-2 edge on the offensive glass. White finished with 13 points and Jake Bittle 10 points in the win. Denver’s Chris Udofia led all players, and five Pioneers in double figures, with 20 points.
In Brookings, Pierre native, senior Steph Paluch, led three Jackrabbits in double figures as South Dakota State defeated Denver, 72-61, in Summit League women’s basketball action Thursday in front of 1,751 fans in Frost Arena. Paluch scored a team-high 14 points while junior Megan Waytashek and senior Tara Heiser each added 11 points. Senior Hannah Strop grabbed a team-best seven rebounds. South Dakota State shot 44.2 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from three-point range and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. The Jacks’ 10 three-pointers were the most since making 12 vs. Northern Iowa Nov. 17. Bradley led Denver with a game-high 24 points while Van Riper-Rose added 14 points and Kailey Edwards 11 points and team-high eight rebounds.
