PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) South Dakota State Historical Society officials will be closing a furniture exhibit at the museum in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre in just over a week.  “Furniture: The Fancy and the Functional” features more than 65 examples of furniture from the museum’s collection and the exhibit will permanently wrap up February 9.  Once the exhibit is shut down, the gallery where it has been located will be closed to allow work to start in advance of the Hogen Gallery’s next exhibition.  A new exhibit entitled, “Transformation and Continuity in Lakota Culture: The Collages of Arthur Amiotte” will be made public in April.   Amiotte is a noted South Dakota Oglala Lakota artist and the exhibit featuring his works will open April 19.
