RAPID CITY, S.D. – A hot start by the Pierre Lady Governors appeared only lukewarm compared to the overall shooting efforts of Rapid City Central Tuesday night, as the Cobblers ran away with a 62-45 victory. Senior guard Eveyln Martin scored 22 of her game high 25 points in the second half to lead the Cobblers, who outscored Pierre 34-13 in the second half after the Lady Govs held a 32-28 lead at the break. Martin rained in seven of eight 3-point shots including all six of her attempts in the second half, while Central hit 11 of 16 overall for the game from long range. The Lady Govs connected on five of seven 3-pointers in the first half themselves but had no answer for a Cobbler squad that shot better than 60 percent for the game. Katie Berg led Pierre with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Kaitlyn Severyn added 12 and 9 to lead Pierre, who falls to 4-4 with the loss. The Lady Govs will host Yankton Friday night, while Rapid City Central, now 4-5, heads to Sturgis Thursday.
