PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor basketball team won their 7th straight game to start the season as they downed Rapid City Central 71-59 Tuesday night at Riggs High gym in the Governors first non conference game of the season. Pierre outscored the Cobblers 26-13 in the second quarter to take a 37-27 lead into the locker room. Rapid City Central cut the lead to two on several occasions in the third quarter before the Governors pulled away in the 4th behind balanced scoring. Brevin Kaiser came off the bench to score 13 points as the Govs had 5 players in double figures. Garrett Pochop had 12 points while Cooper Walton, Austin Christopherson and Erin Severyn all added 11 points apeice. The Governors had a huge advantage on the board ourrebounding the Cobblers 38-21. Kaiser led the way with 10 boards to record his third double double of the season. Jarred Dotson had 15 points to pace Rapid City Central which fell to 4 and 5 on the season. Pierre travels to Yankton on Friday night while Rapid City Central faces Sturgis.
