FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held Sunday at Stanley County’s new Elementary School. The $4.3 million dollar building will officially open to elementary students next week following the Christmas break. Ground was broken for the 36,594 square foot building in October of 2012. It was designed to house students in Junior Kindergarten through 5th grade, along with special education classes, and will provide food service for students in all grades attending classes in Fort Pierre. There will be a ribbon cutting at the north doors of the new school on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and then, a short ceremony will be held in the gym of the new building. The open house follows-until 5:00 p.m. Classes for the approximately 190 Stanley County K-5 students will start on Monday.
