PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Riggs High School Athetic Hall of Fame will induct 3 new members on Saturday December 28th during halftime of the Watertown and Pierre Boys Basketball game at Riggs High Gym. Two former Riggs High School standouts will be inducted as Larry Howard and Mike Stroup will be inducted as athletes and Rod Fisher will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a contributor. Howard is a two time All State football player in 1963 and 64 and coached football at Highmore and Platte where he compiled a record of 29-16. He also refereed wrestling and worked many State Wrestling Tournaments. He currently resides in the Pierre area. Stroup was a member of Pierre’s 1974 State Champion wrestling team and received 5 varsity letters and one individual state wrestling title. Stroup coached several sports in high school and is a former Athletic Director and administrator at Riggs High School. He currently resides in the Pierre Area. And Fisher has covered Pierre Governor and Lady Governor sports since 1979 for radio stations in Pierre. He is a former State Sportscaster of the Year and received Distinguished Service Awards from the South Dakota High School Acitivities Association. He is currently the Sports Director of the Dakota Radio Group and still describes the play by play for Pierre Governor sports.
