PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Timber Lake man was sentenced in federal court last week for passing a counterfeit $100 bill.  U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says that 21-year-old Dennis Tyler Gutierrez, also known as “Crow Shoe”, was given one year of probation, a $500 fine and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund at last Thursday’s sentencing.  Gutierrez was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in August and pleaded guilty in October.  He was charged after an incident during the Days of 1910 celebration in Timber Lake in July of this year when officials indicate that Gutierrez used a counterfeit $100 bill to attempt to buy beer at a local business.  The business owner recognized the bill as counterfeit and called law enforcement.
