Two Pierre Boys Among South Dakotans in NFL Punt Pass and Kick Competition

MINNEAPOLIS – Several South Dakota particpants will be competing in the NFL Punt Pass and Kick Team Championships tomorrow evening at Mall of American Field in the Metrodome in Minnepolis. Competition in five age divisions for both boys and girls begins at 7 p.m. with the top scorer in each group crowned team champion and eligible for the National Championships, which will be held during an AFC playoff game. All participants launch one punt, one pass and one kick with scores based on distance and accuracy (in feet). The top four scorers in each age group from around the country will qualify as national finalists. South Dakotans competing in the competion include Maize Baumann of Selby in the girls and Karter Engels of Watertown in the boys 6 and 7 year age division. Mason Schelske of Wessington Springs and Dawson Reckling of Long Valley in the boys 8-9 age division. Grey Zabel of Pierre will be compeing in the boys 10-11 age division along with Matthew Mors of Yankton. In the girls 10-11 age division, competitors are Lily Kempf of Elk Point, Bella Swedlund of Witten and Megan Fannin of Watertown. Peyton Zabel of Pierre will be competing in the boys 12-13 age division along with girls Baily Kortan of Tabor and Savannah Solon of Kadoka. And in the girls 14-15 age division, South Dakota competitors are Taylor Bonestroo of Brandon and Karen Smith of Gettysburg while Brennan Gabriel of Watertown will compete in the boys 14-15 division. There are four competitors in each age division from Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dakota. All of the competitors will be recognized during pregame of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
