INDIANAPOLIS – Second-seeded Denver overcame a two set deficit and had five players reach at least 10 kills to end the South Dakota volleyball team’s season 26-28, 12-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-12 in the Summit League Tournament semifinals at the IUPUI Gymnasium on Saturday night. Sarah Schmid and Moni Corrujedo both recorded 17 kills to lead the Pioneers (17-11, 10-4), while Brea Muhle had 16 kills. Denver outkilled USD 44-33 over the final three sets while recording a hitting percentage of .317. USD had a hitting percentage of .229 during that time. The teams had the same amount of attack errors (11) over the last three sets. USD (19-13, 9-5), the third seed in the tournament, was led by Kendall Kritenbrink’s 23 kills and three aces, while Tori Kroll and Audrey Reeg both recorded double-doubles. Kroll had 55 assists and 12 digs while Reeg had 16 kills and 11 digs. The match was the last match for USD’s three seniors: Tori Kroll, Natalie Walseth and Amber Aschoff.
