PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Two men are scheduled to appear in court early next month for charges of Burglary and Intentional Damage to Property. 24-year-old Dustin McGhee and 36-year-old Adam Keaton, both of Pierre, were indicted for Third Degree Burglary-a Class 4 Felony and Intentional Damage to Private Property-a Class 1 Misdemeanor-earlier this month. They were both arrested October 31. Police were called early that morning to the report that a burglary alarm was sounding at the Cowboy Country Store on North Euclid Avenue. Authorities said a rock had been used to break out a window from the front door of the store, causing about $500 damage. Reports indicate that about $100 in cigarettes had been stolen from the business.
Keaton appeared in court yesterday for a bond hearing. Judge John Brown set Keaton’s bond at $1,000 cash after Hughes County States Attorney Wendy Kloeppner said that she believes Keaton has the means and motivation to leave the area if he is released. Keaton and McGhee will next be in court December 3.
