PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor football team will make their first appearance in the Dakotadome in 25 years next Friday as they play for the Class 11AA High School Football Championship. The Governors downed Harrisburg 45-13 Friday night in one semi final round game of the playoffs. Ethan Case rushed for three touchdowns while Alex Gray threw for two more as Pierre built a 31-0 halftime lead and cruised to the win. Gray set a single game school record throwing for 316 yards and Garrett Pochop set a single game school record with 9 receptions for 187 yards in the game. The Governors also got a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Brevan Kaiser and a 23 yard field goal from Pochop as they ammassed 474 yards in total offense. Harrisburg scored two fourth quarter touchdowns but had 3 turnovers as their season came to an end. Pierre is 9-1 on the season and will take on Watertown for the State Championship Friday night at 7:30 pm at the Dakotadome in Vermillion. Watertown downed Yankton 32-14 in the other semi final game Friday night.
