Larry Beck, 73, of Pierre
DIED: Thursday, October 31 at his home in Pierre, following a courageous battle with cancer.
SERVICES: 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 6 at Lutheran Memorial Church with Bishop Dave Zellmer and Pastor Sarah Goldammer officiating, with visitation one hour prior to services.

Laurence Andrew Beck was born on September 7, 1940 to R.A. “Bud” and Frances (Hamling) Beck in Britton, SD. He grew up in Britton where he attended school and graduated from Britton High School in 1958. He attended South Dakota State University where he majored in Psychology.
Larry married Judith Charlenne Blake on July 20, 1963 in Mellette, SD. They lived in Sioux Falls from 1963 to 1965, where they had their first son, Doug. They later moved to Pierre where Ryan was born in 1976 and Nicole in 1978. He was a Disc Jockey for KGFX and KISD radio stations, a computer salesman and programmer, brewer, musician, photographer, family chef, and business owner.
Larry took pleasure in photography, music, computers, brewing, woodworking, cooking, recording, and guitar collecting. He belonged to Toastmasters, the Central South Dakota Photography Club, Pierre Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Pierre; children: Doug (Geri) Beck of Mitchell, Ryan (Kellie) Beck of Pierre and Nicole Beck of Pierre; five grandchildren: Carolina, Eric, Kyanne, Jarron and Brylon; and sister, Mary Larsen of Redfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Daniel Beck and sister, Catherine “Betty” Beck.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Foundation or to St. Mary’s Hospice.
