PIERRE, SD — The Oahe Hockey Association (OHA) invites boys and girls ages four to nine years old to the ExpoCenter in Ft. Pierre on Saturday, November 2nd for a Try Hockey for Free clinic from 10:30 a.m. to noon. At this free event the OHA will provide skates, helmets and sticks for the young skaters to experience the sport of ice hockey in a fun and safe environment. Certified coaches will teach the basics of the sport to participating kids, and OHA volunteers will provide information about the youth hockey program to interested parents. Kids who attend will also be entered into a drawing to ride the Zamboni to clean the ice at the end of the clinic. Families can register in advance at www.TryHockeyForFree.com. The first 40 kids to register will receive a free jersey. Kids should wear loose fitting sweat pants or jeans, winter gloves or mittens, and a sweatshirt or jacket for the clinic. The OHA is partnering with the National Hockey League and USA Hockey to offer the free clinic as part of a nationwide effort to introduce kids to the sport of ice hockey. More than 500 local rinks throughout the country will host a Try Hockey for Free clinic on November 2, 2013.
