KENNEBEC, S.D. – (DRG News) An open house will be held this evening in Kennebec to celebrate the city’s new clinic location. The previous clinic in Kennebec closed last year. Community members worked over the past year to raise enough money to open another facility. They purchased a modular building constructed in Springfield and it was moved to Kennebec in late September. Local citizen Herb Sundall was one member in a group that organized to secure another local clinic in Kennebec and he says today’s open house at the new building will start at 5:00 p.m. with a meal. A program, ribbon cutting and blessing will follow. Sundall says it will be good to have a medical facility in town again.
The new clinic will be named Avera Medical Group Kennebec Area. Sundall says it will be open Monday through Friday. The exact schedule for visits by a Physician’s Assistant, Nurse and Doctor has yet to be worked out. Sundall thanks Avera for reopening the clinic in one of the state’s smaller communities and says he hopes it will be a benefit to the town and Avera, both.
