HURON, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor Cross Country team scored 41 points to edge Aberdeen Central by 1 point for the team title of the Huron 5 Star Cross County meet Thursday at the Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron. Rachel Propst led the way as 5 Pierre girls finished in the top 15 of the meet. Propst won the indvidual title with a winning time of 15:23.11 edging out runner up Taylor Redlin of Watertown by just over 3 seconds. 7th grader Emily Mikkelson came in 6th with a time of 15:59.78 and Hannah Shaffer of Pierre was 9th with a time of 16:06.64. Courtney Dowling of the Lady Govs finished 11th and Aspen Iverson had a 14th place finish. Marich Fuchs finished 23rd while Eryn Schlotte was 25th, Sam Ullman 27th and Morgan Lieferman 30th. There were 42 runners in the race. In the boys division, Jebben Keyes of the Governors had a 4th place finish as Pierre scored 54 points to finish second to Brookings who won the meet with a score of 28. Keyes time of 17:24.36 was just under 40 seconds behind the indvidual winner Justice Lamer of Brookings. Porter Jones had a strong day finishing 8th with a time of 17:49.25 and Micah Howard of Pierre had a 10th place finish in a time of 17:59.25. Seth McKinley finished 14th and Bennett Eisenbeisz had a 18th place finish. Jack Wollman was 21st while Jamaal Covey and Joe Schueller had 25th and 26th place finishes as 42 runners ran the race. Next up for the Govs and Lady Govs is the State Cross Country meet next weekend in Rapid City.
