Frozen Wild Game or Meat Needed to Feed Rehabilitating Birds of Prey

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A facility that cares for injured birds and wildlife is once again in need of frozen meat to feed the wild animals.  All Creatures Animal Hospital and Dr. Virginia Trexler Myren currently need pheasant, grouse, deer, elk, bison, antelope or other wild frozen meat to feed rehabilitating birds of prey and other wild animals that are being cared for at the clinic and at the Wildlife Rehab Station near the SD Game, Fish and Parks Fisheries Center.  There has been a large increase in injured birds and wildlife recently, so now is a good time to clean out your freezer and make use of any old frozen game.  Organizers say that meat or fish can be freezer burned, but ask that people avoid bringing in spoiled meat.  Dr. Trexler Myren donates her time to rehabilitate birds of prey and injured wildlife.  When possible, the animals are then returned to the wild after they are strong enough.    Those wanting to donate frozen game can deliver it to the All Creatures Animal Hospital at 1415 North Harrison Avenue in Pierre.
