PIERRE, S.D. – Central South Dakota baseball fans are being encouraged to donate any used baseball equipment to the Nicaragua Baseball Project, a project started by a pair of former amatuer baseball players in Flandreau. Local organizer, Bill Ellwanger, says that any baseball equipment and / or clothing that residents have no more use for or have outgrown will be accepted. The equipment will be taken to Nicaragua and handed out to baseball players of all ages in that Central American Country, the second poorest country in the world. Ellwanger says that equipment and clothing should be cleaned up and working order but they will take most everything. You can drop your donation off at Ellwangers home in Pierre at 805 Cherry Drive. Or to get more information or if you have any questions, you can contact hime at 945-0953 or 280-2491.
