PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking that all flags in South Dakota be flown at half-staff through sunset Friday in honor of the victims of a mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in the nation’s capital.
The request is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Barack Obama.
Authorities are still trying to figure out why a former Navy reservist opened fire inside a building at the Navy Yard on Monday, killing 12 people before being killed himself.
