PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) This month is being recognized as National Recovery Month-to highlight the work being done by many to recover, prevent and treat substance abuse and mental disorders. Locally, Capital Area Counseling Service is noting the month and is planning a celebration and picnic for next week to pay tribute to people in the recovery process and to the professionals that help them. Glennis Zarecky, who chairs the CACS Board of Directors says this month brings a good time to remember those that are struggling through addiction or mental health troubles and to highlight those who are overcoming those issues.
Zarecky says Monday evening in Fort Pierre, there will be an event held that will pay tribute to those who are recovering. She says there will be a picnic and celebration at Fischer Lily Park from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. which will include dinner, guest speakers and games.
Zarecky says Capital Area Counseling Service is available to help local citizens who need assistance with mental health disorders or substance abuse recovery-among other issues.
CACS serves Buffalo, Haakon, Hughes, Hyde, Jones, Lyman, Potter, Stanley and Sully Counties. Call Capital Area Counseling Service at 224-5811 or visit their website at www.cacsnet.org.
