PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The City of Pierre is starting its chip seal program today on city streets. Pierre’s Construction and Operations Manager Lynn Patton says the work will begin with Humboldt Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Parking is not allowed on those two streets today and motorists will likely experience delays during the chip seal work of up to ¾ of an hour from the time the oil is sprayed until the rock is rolled and ready for public traffic. Patton says drivers should exercise patience and pay attention to traffic control and no parking areas that will be posted in the coming days. He says there are many pieces of equipment and several trucks that will be hauling the chips. Chip sealing work will continue in Pierre for about the next week and Patton says drivers should be alert and drive safely near the work zones.
