PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Capital Area United Way will soon hold an event to announce this year’s campaign goal and other details. The organization kicked off the coming fundraiser with its recent Day of Caring-which was held earlier this month. The August 17 event brought together about 175 volunteers who worked on more than 20 different service projects in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area. Capital Area United Way Executive Director Gloria Hanson says this year’s Day of Caring was a success and volunteers tackled several different projects.
Now that Day of Caring is complete, Hanson says the local United Way will hold an event soon to announce this year’s campaign goal, name those who will lead the campaign and offer the theme for the upcoming fundraiser. She says partner agencies and others help set each year’s United Way goal.
The local United Way has had successful campaigns in recent years and Hanson says it’s because of the many generous people that live in Hughes and Stanley counties.
The United Way will kick off its new campaign Tuesday, September 3 at the Pierre Chamber Community Room. Capital Area United Way uses the funds it gathers each year to help support programs operated by its 21 partner agencies.
