PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor football team will hold it’s annual Powerade Scrimmage tomorrow morning at Phil Trautner Stadium at Hollister Field. The scrimmage is scheduled for 10 am and admission to the scrimmage for fans is to bring a bottle of Powerade or a sports drink. First year head coach Jayson Poppinga says the scrimmage is a chance to work on special teams and transition with game officials. Coach Poppinga says it is to get a game type feel for the players so when they do open at Watertown next Saturday it will be like the second game of the year instead of the opener. The coach also says that they are using the heat to their advantage in practice as it makes players have to focus plus it gives the coaching staff a chance to see how the conditioning is for the players.
