Post 8 Drops Second Round Game at State Legion Baseball Tournament

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team was beaten 15-2 by Rapid City Post 22 last night in the second round of the South Dakota State American Legion Championship baseball tournament.  The start of the game was delayed by nearly 2 1/2 hours in Rapid City due to rain but once it did start, it wasn’t much of a contest.  Post 22 scored 3 runs in the third, 4 in the 4th and 5 runs in the 5th to send Pierre to an elimination game today at 6 pm central time against Watertown.  Pierre committed 5 errors in the game while Post 22 was errorless in the contest and outhit Pierre 14-8.  Gage Curtis doubled for Post 8 which scored 2 runs in the 5th.  Gregg Schaeffer hit his second home run in as many games for Post 22 who will play Sioux Falls West tonight at 9 pm central time.  Cash Anderson started and took the loss for Post 8 which fell to 20-25 on the season.
