PIERRE, S.D. – The summer of 2013 has been memorable for Megan Stulken who will be a junior at Riggs High in Pierre. Since June she has competed in nine events at three national shooting matches for precision air rifle and small bore (.22). In June she competed at Fort Benning, GA during the USA Shooting National Championships placing 18th in the women’s prone event and 11th in the junior division. In 3-position small bore, she placed 22nd in the women’s division and 11th in the junior division. Currently she is ranked 32nd in the nation for women’s 3-position smallbore rifle. Through South Dakota State 4-H shooting sports, she earned the invitation to the National 4-H shooting match in Grand Island, Neb. where she won 2nd in 3-position smallbore rifle and 10th overall. Recently, Megan returned from Anniston, Alabamawhere she competed at the National Jr Olympics 3-Position air rifle match. During the National CMP event, she earned the gold medal in prone for a perfect score of 200 points with 20 center shots. She also received the silver medal in her age division. In recognition of Megan’s accomplishments at CMP sponsored national and state events, she was presented the Junior Distinguished Badge which is awarded to school-age junior three-position air rifle shooters who distinguish themselves by attaining a series of high rankings. Megan is coached by Dempster S. Christenson of Sioux Falls and is also a member of the Dakota Sharpshooters State Precision Shooting team and the Lewis and Clark Rifle and Pistol Club.
