PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) This weekend brings the R-CALF USA Convention to Pierre. The event starts Friday and most convention activities will take place at the Ramkota Hotel in Pierre. The 14th annual convention will feature comments from two property rights advocates. The first, Cliven Bundy, is a Nevada rancher, and he will speak on Friday morning about 9:30 a.m. following a report on Private Property Rights. The second speaker is scheduled Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Richard Mack was an Arizona sheriff from 1988-1994 and the topic of his talk is “Sheriffs + State Sovereignty = The Solution!” A late Saturday morning guest speaker will be former Administrator of the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration-Dudley Butler. Butler’s presentation starts at 10:45 a.m. Though most of the convention will be held at the Ramkota, Friday evening will bring a social, meal and presentation of a “Johnny Smith Memorial Saddle” to the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center. That portion of the gathering will be held at the Rodeo Center at 210 Verendrye Drive in Fort Pierre. R-CALF USA stands for Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America and the group says its mission is to represent the U.S. cattle industry in trade and marketing issues.
